Volunteer opportunities at DU!

Participate in Move-in Day

Wednesday, August 26 is Move-in day at the W. A. Lettinga Campusand we could use your assistance in helping students move in.

With the addition of a third residence hall, up to 500 students will now be living on campus and this is your chance to show your support.  You provide the muscle and we will provide you with the opportunity to help DU students move into our three residence halls.

Shifts are from 7:45 – 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Email or call the Alumni Relations office at 866-248-0012 and tell us you’ll be there!

Be a professional mentor

Career Services is growing its alumni professional mentorship program and needs your help.  As a professional mentor you can help DU students prepare for life after graduation.  Here are some easy ways to mentor a student:

  • Share your expertise: Call, email or meet a student over coffee to share your career or industry experiences.
  • Teach a student how to network: If you belong to an area association such as the Rotary or Economic Club, take a student along sometime and introduce him or her to your business associates.

Serve on an advisory board

Career Services is also seeking business leaders who are interested in participating in regional employer advisory boards.

Career Services is targeting employers in West Michigan including Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Holland; in SE Michigan including Warren, Livonia and Lansing; and in Mid-Michigan  including Midland, Saginaw, Flint, Alma and Caro.  Help Career Services define the knowledge and skill sets important to employers today as well as understand employment trends in different industries.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor or if you would like to participate in a regional advisory board, please contact Shelley Lowe at 866-600-5515.

Look for next month’s alumni enewsletter for volunteer opportunities at this year’s Homecoming celebration and hockey game.
