Men’s Hockey Wins ACHA D2 National Championship for Third Straight Year

2009-2010 ACHA D2 National Champions

Davenport University won its third straight ACHA D2 National Championship on Saturday, March 20, defeating Central Connecticut State University 12–4. After finishing a perfect 5–0 in the National Tournament, Davenport will end its season with a 33–15 record.

This Championship game was the team’s last Division 2 game as the Panthers will move up to Division 1 in their next season.

Mark Youngs Named WBCA Regional Coach of the Year

DU Women’s Basketball Coach, Mark Youngs, has won the 2010 Russell Athletic/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Region 4 Coach of the Year for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

During the 2009–2010 season, Youngs guided his Lady Panthers to the Sweet 16 at the NAIA D2 National Tournament, giving them a 30–2 overall record—even ranking as high as #1 in the NAIA D2 polls earlier in the season. When asked about the award, Youngs commented, Keep Reading…

DU student and alumni volunteers offer free tax assistance

Student and alumni volunteers from Davenport University are off to a great start with this year’s free income tax preparation sessions. More than 40 DU students and alumni are part of this program and have prepared more than 700 returns so far—putting more than $1.3 million back in tax payers’ pockets.

Free assistance will be available to low- and middle-income tax-filers (less than $49,000 in total family income) in the academic building at Davenport University’s W.A. Lettinga Campus. Keep Reading…
