We are proud to announce the appointment of Dennis Washington as Davenport University’s new executive vice president for advancement.

Formerly vice president for university advancement at Kettering University, he was selected following a thorough search and started his new position at DU on June 1.

Washington has a track record of building strategic constituent relationships and structured advancement programs to support university funding priorities. He also has extensive experience in re-engaging alumni, broadening the donor base and conducting major campaigns.

He has served as director of corporate and foundation relations at Central Michigan University and is completing studies toward a doctorate in higher education administration.

His skills, abilities and experience are well suited to Davenport University, and he is
looking forward to meeting and getting to know many friends and alumni of Davenport.

24th Annual Davenport Scholarship Golf Classic

Grab your friends and your clubs and join us at the 24th Annual Davenport Scholarship Golf Classic. Your day includes lunch, golfing at Egypt Valley Country Club, followed by dinner and a chance to bid on and win great auction items. Dinner tickets may be purchased for those wishing to only participate in dinner and the auction.

Hole in one prizes for the day include:
• Round trip jet transportation to Naples, FL provided by Chuck Cox, CEO of Northern Jet Management. The trip includes two nights stay at the Ritz Carlton, two rounds of golf at Tiburon and Olde Florida Golf Club and golf lessons.
• One year lease on a sports vehicle provided by Andy Weiss of Imperial Leasing.
• Club Car XRT Utility Vehicle provided by Russ Stoffers of US Golf Cars.
• One year lease on a 2010 Buick LaCrosse provided by Todd Wenzel.

Join the Davenport University Alumni Association in honoring the 2010 recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Hy Berkowitz Professional Excellence Award while celebrating the accomplishments of all previous recipients.

Adult and Graduate Alumni Scholarship

Did you know that Davenport University provides funding for alumni who choose to continue their education at Davenport? DU awards up to $500 per year to qualifying alumni students. The alumni scholarship is available to alumni undergraduate and graduate students and is renewable up to 4 years.

Ex-Duke men’s lacrosse coach Mike Pressler to speak at Davenport

Former Duke University Men’s Lacrosse Coach Mike Pressler, the winningest coach in NCAA history, is scheduled to speak at Davenport University in August.

Pressler spent 16 seasons at Duke, where he was named NCAA Division I coach of the year in 2005. He’ll speak about college recruiting, coaching philosophy and the Duke scandal. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Pressler now guides the men’s lacrosse program at Bryant University and is serving as the 2010 United States men’s national team coach.

Cost: Free of charge and open to public

Pressler will also participate in a session of the Davenport boys’ lacrosse camp.
