Nichole Konyndyk is clearly a firm believer in education. In 2014, she completed not just one, but two bachelor’s degrees at Calvin College: a BS in Psychology and a BA in Business, Human Resources. Nichole participated in a semester study abroad at York St. John College in York, England and spent 10 months as an intern at HR Collaborative, a position that led to a full-time role upon graduation.
She has worked as an HR Associate for HR Collaborative for the past three years. Nichole’s participation in the winter 2017 session of the SHRM Certification Exam Preparation course at Davenport University’s Institute for Professional Excellence (IPEx) has led to her most recent success of earning her SHRM-CP credential!
After a thorough national search, Davenport University appointed Debra Cooper as the new Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Cooper has been with Spectrum Health and subsidiary Priority Health for the past 12 years, leading marketing, digital marketing and enterprise customer relationship management functions in a variety of executive roles. When she joins Davenport in July, Cooper will assume responsibility for brand and marketing strategy development and execution of all marketing and communications initiatives for the University while providing leadership for community and government relations programs.

The Office of Performance Excellence officially launched our new Develop U learning management system with live training sessions at Warren, Livonia, Midland, Lansing and Lettinga. As part of the larger Empower U rollout, the new Develop U gives Davenport employees access to over 7,000 online, self -paced modules in addition to in-seat, facilitated OPE Signature Programs like Strengths Finder, Managing Change, DiSC, Cultural Intelligence and Conflict Strategies.

On Tuesday, the Broadmoor Event Committee hosted a Grilled Hot Dog event. It provided an opportunity for staff from many different departments to get together and socialize. Various hot dog toppings were available. It was a great hit! Broadmoor employees are looking forward to future events such as these.

Previously, July 3, 2017 had been identified as one of Davenport University’s two floating holidays for the upcoming fiscal year. Unfortunately, this will not work with our already established academic calendar so, after consulting with Cabinet, that holiday has been shifted to Jan. 2, 2018. A new homepage at davenport.edu is set to go-live on June 1. The new homepage is a complete re-design and will feature a new look and feel. No items or links have been removed, but they may be located in a different spot.
CSC is scheduled to publish the new homepage during the late hours of May 31. The website will continue to work during the go-live, but some things may move around. Please contact CSC if you have any questions.
The Institute for Professional Excellence (IPEx), Davenport University’s corporate training and professional development team, have recently started the second cohortt of the Certificate of Supervisory Management with employees from the City of Lansing.
