Who will be affected by this upgrade project?

  • All Davenport University PC-compatible academic, faculty and staff computers.

What is this upgrade about?

  • Davenport University IT Services will soon be upgrading all university-owned PCs from the current Windows XP Professional and Office 2007 image, to a new Windows 7 (64-bit version) and Office 2010 image.

When will this upgrade take place?

  • All Davenport University faculty and academic (classroom) computers will be upgraded between August 16-24, in preparation for the start of fall 2011 semester beginning August 29.

Where will this upgrade be preformed?

  • At all Davenport University campuses.

Why is the University upgrading the operating system and office suite?

  • Davenport IT Services is continually updating and upgrading the wide range of technology infrastructure and systems in use across the University. Upgrading the University standard desktop operating system and office suite is part of an overall strategy to provide students, faculty, and staff with the most relevant versions of technology tools to support learning, teaching and operations.
